Transportation Insight Climbs to 17th on List of North Carolina’s Leading Businesses

Hickory, North Carolina (October 2, 2013)—Leading global third-party logistics (3PL) provider Transportation Insight continues its ascent on Business North Carolina magazine’s list of Top 100 Private Companies. In the newly released publication, Transportation Insight moved up to a ranking of 17th on the prestigious list—up six spots from its 2012 ranking of 23rd and up 13 levels from its standing two years ago.

Grant Thornton has compiled the annual survey since 1984 by ranking businesses based on revenue from the most recent fiscal year.  It is Transportation Insight’s ninth appearance on the list.

“Our upward progression on this list is connected to the measurable results we’ve achieved for our valued clients through our consultative business model, breadth of supply chain services and customized solutions,” says President and Chief Executive Officer Chris Baltz. “Our clients have a preference for more than a logistics partner – they partner with us to create business strategies that help them achieve enterprise excellence through continued process improvement.”

Transportation Insight has sustained its growth by providing companies value-rich supply chain services built under the framework of its Extended LEAN™ continuous improvement methodology. By taking the traditional LEAN practices of removing non-value-added activities and applying them across a client’s entire supply chain, Transportation Insight empowers clients to leverage an optimized supply chain as a competitive advantage and long-term growth strategy. Other strategic channels include an interactive business intelligence portal, advanced supply chain analytics and cutting-edge technologies.

Transportation Insight has headquarters in Hickory, North Carolina and secondary corporate facilities in Bentonville, Arkansas and Charlotte, North Carolina. More than 40 sales and client support offices are located throughout North America.

As part of the Grant Thornton North Carolina 100®, Transportation Insight joins an elite group of North Carolina-based companies experiencing significant expansion such as Belk Inc., SAS Inc. and S&D Coffee Inc.

“The combination of Transportation Insight’s logistics expertise and robust service offering has earned us top global honors in the 3PL industry,” says Baltz. “But our human capital is the real advantage that allows us to experience such great success. Our people are extremely passionate about serving our clients with excellence, and it shows in the sustained business growth for both our clients and our enterprise.”
