Transportation Insight Announces Josh Walker as VP of Organizational Development
HICKORY, NC, June 10, 2011 – Transportation Insight, LLC, a leading North American supply chain management firm, announces the promotion of Josh Walker to the position of Vice President of Organizational Development.
Walker, who joined Transportation Insight in 2005, will be responsible for strategic talent management and organizational structure. “Our people personify our competitive advantage,” says CEO Paul Thompson. “Our associates represent Transportation Insight’s greatest asset, and human capital is where we want to continue to make substantial investment. We’re delighted to see Josh perform this key role with excellence. His leadership in Organizational Development will help our company achieve and sustain excellence in every functional area and support our goal to maintain a people and community focused workplace,” adds Thompson.
Transportation Insight employs approximately 150 associates and has more than 40 sales offices throughout North America. The value-based third party logistics provider is headquartered in Hickory, NC with secondary corporate facilities in Bentonville, AR and Charlotte, NC.
Walker previously held the position of Director of Organizational Development. Walker, who earned an MBA from the University of Tampa, leverages his education in business and finance to oversee Transportation Insight’s largest budget line item. “Human capital is a major portion of our P&L. I carry a ROI mindset, so I focus on creating a return on investment in our people and their development. Through our teambuilding activities, we create competition and an opportunity to build trust. As we establish high trust and high culture, our company executes more quickly and with excellence,” says Walker.
Transportation Insight’s organization development model is similar to many Fortune 100 organizations. The supply chain management firm recruits and develops top talent, builds best-of-breed processes and offers continuing education through both external and internal training. Transportation Insight launched Transportation Insight University in 2009, so that employees would have a substantial education platform to take high quality continuing education classes taught by subject matter experts.
“We are developing a phenomenal culture in the way we treat and develop our associates, says Walker. “We look at Google, Apple and Microsoft and aspire to achieve the same type of forward-thinking workplace culture.”
Some of Walker’s other key responsibilities include leading all recruiting, hiring, performance reviews and community service. Walker coordinates employee volunteer efforts with the international humanitarian group Samaritan’s Feet, which provides shoes for needy children. Walker also serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hickory Christian Academy.
Founded in 1998, Transportation Insight has been recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest growing privately-held companies in America. Walker says, “I experience great satisfaction as our business grows, and our associates capture a sense of purpose and joy in their work.”
