Berry Selected For “20 Under 40” Award
HICKORY, NC, August 2008 – Patrick Berry, a Marketing Specialist at Transportation Insight, has been recognized as one of the “20 Under 40” honorees in the “Business to Business” section of the Hickory Daily Record. The 20 honorees were selected for “making a mark in their careers and having a positive impact on their communities” according to the HDR. All of the selected professionals are in the 21 to 40 age range and were nominated by their employers, coworkers, and friends.
After serving the local faith community as a youth pastor and completing his undergraduate education at Appalachian State University, Patrick joined Transportation Insight as a Business Development Specialist in January 2006. He has been directly involved in staffing essential new departments at Transportation Insight by identifying and hiring ten new employees from the Catawba Valley area. As Transportation Insight continues to grow in downtown Hickory, Patrick plays a critical role in business growth, daily operation, and recruiting outstanding local talent.
Patrick served as the Vice President of the Alumni Council for the College of Fine and Applied Arts associated with Appalachian State University for the past two years and will be assuming the role of President in November 2008. Additionally, Patrick accepted membership in the Appalachian Alumni Leadership Council, which advises the ASU Administration about local community needs.
The Hickory Public School system recognized Patrick as the 2008 Volunteer of the Year for his participation in fundraising efforts at Southwest Elementary School. Additionally, Patrick has worked to expand local youth ministries at First Baptist Church and Christ United Methodist Church. Patrick states that his leadership philosophy includes providing those who “have come before with the respect of keeping their memories close and those who are yet to come with the knowledge that conservation and innovation can go hand in hand.”
